FALL 2023 GARDENING WORKSHOP (Nov 11-12 from 9 am – 4 pm)

Join me, Jennifer Brand a 30 year gardener, professional organic farmer, and landscape designer for an in-depth, hands on, workshop at Sonaterra Farm. In the past 30 years I have seen and solved a lot with regard to farming and growing. Learn from my mistakes as I outline the most effective processes for growing vegetables in both small and medium scale. This 2 day intensive workshop is perfect for both beginning farmers and experienced gardeners who want to learn biological and naturally organic approaches to growing vegetables and flowers.
Class will cover:
- Planning and preparing your site
- Planning and setting up irrigation systems
- Managing and preparing for weather extremes
- Applying all natural practices to manage soil and plant health
- Managing pests and disease
- Working with nature and existing eco systems on your property
- Simplifying your fertilization approach
- Managing weeds effectively
- Making biologically complete compost, extract, and teas
- Starting your own seeds
- Extending your growing season
- Specialized information for a wide variety of crops (lettuce, arugula, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, melons, squash, carrots, onions and more)
Class includes:
- 7 hours total of instruction each day
- Coffee, morning, and afternoon snacks
- Accompanying materials to study and take home outlining the discussions
- An in-depth composting segment that will have you making compost that is teaming with micro-organisms.
- A tour of Sonaterra Farm and the systems that make her run
- A full hour of Q/A at the end of each day to cover questions
