Sona (Irish) terra (Italian) means ‘happy earth’. Our focus is to work towards a completely closed system where our inputs to the farm (compost, mulch, fertilizers) are generated by the farm itself. We believe this approach, coupled with using human scale tools, rather than tractors and machines, is truly sustainable and the way more food should be grown. To maintain this standard we work a little harder, grow a little smarter, and are committed to remaining small so that we don’t overextend ourselves.
Hi, I’m Jennifer Kate. I’ve been gardening all my life. I grew up on a homestead farm just outside of Auburn, CA. My parents were master gardeners and since I could walk, I followed them around learning as I ate. I am a former engineer, current landscape designer and owner of Sonaterra Farm. I am a passionate gardener and eater. My primary focus as a home grower has always been on growing the best tasting cultivars available in the most healthy way possible. We treat our farm as an extension of our home garden. We grow the best culinary varieties of vegetables and herbs using natural, non-toxic systems and inputs that exceed conventional organic standards.
